H.E. PARTRIDGE.

13th August, 1929.

Mr. Hugh Whitcombe,
C/o Messrs. Whitcome & Tombs,
Queen Street,
Auckland.

Dear Mr. Whitcombe,

Art Gallery

As requested by you I am sending herewith the typescript of the book about which Mr. H.E. Partridge spoke to you last week. It is entitled "Maori Portraits and Maori Customs ... from the original paintings by Gottfried Lindauer, described by James Cowan". The book is, in my opinion, worthy of publication, and I would recommend it to you for the best consideration that you can possibly give it.

I enclose a form of receipt which I shall be glad if you will sign and return to me.

I am,
Yours faithfully,
John Barr.

CHIEF LIBRARIAN & DIRECTOR.
