Those people who are related to these elders will be happy when they see these portraits. Salutations to the Pākehā who painted these portraits. 
    29/03/02  Moana Paratene  Turanga  I was so pleased to see the portrait of my ancestor, Wiremu Kingi. My thanks to the person who takes care of these portraits. 
    8/4./02  Te Ahipu Tukorehe  Kihi kihi  I was so pleased to see my ancestor Rewi Maniapoto and my acknowledgements to Partridge for his work in taking care of these portraits of the Māori chiefs. 
    17th 1902  Mary Paora Tuhaere  Okahu  I was full of affection for my Dad on seeing his portrait because my mum and I are the only ones still alive. I am very impressed with the guardian of these portraits of Māori chiefs.

I have been trying to put together my whakapapa, and it great to see that my nana's writing, as soon as I saw the writing I knew it was him. If only you knew how much this means to me. If you open the book on any page you are offered 3 choices in the box below: a faithful transcription of the words as they were written at the time; a transcription with modern punctuation and macrons and a transcription and translation into English. 'Hope you enjoy reading their korero and thanks to Te Taura Whiri i te reo Maori The Maori Language Commission for all of the transcription and translation work on the Visitors Book.
